"My work grew out of a fascination with human communications and how I can use my artwork to bring people who may feel separated by the culture manifested in their languages closer together. It always seemed to me that there was an unnatural and unnecessary gap between the universal appeal and understanding of certain shapes and forms and the shapes and forms of the alphabets used in different scripts and languages. People seem to share a common understanding of these universal shapes and forms but do not have a similar appreciation and understanding of each other’s script and written words. My works is an attempt at bridging this gap by creating an abstract representation of calligraphic letters that flow together to tell a story against a background inspired by nature. Nature has also been my source of inspiration. The shapes and sounds of nature provide the inspiration and the background for almost all f my work. Leaves and branches, light and darkness, rhythms and sounds, order and chaos have all influenced and are reflected in my work."
